What inspired you to start studying Arabic?
I fell in love with Arabic after visiting family in Lebanon. Only after traveling to Egypt and meeting my future fiancé, did I decided to learn the Egyptian dialect. Now I don’t feel so lost at family gatherings!

What has your experience been like at UCAN?
Wonderful! Teachers and administrators are both friendly and professional. They are excellent educators. The curriculum is easy to follow and very effective. I was speaking confidently after the first class!

Tell us one of your favorite experiences or memories at UCAN? My favorite class was learning the Teshkeel (Arabic vowels). Our teacher sent a kids song to help us learn them. The song was so catchy I kept singing it in class. I continued to sing it all day until my fiancé was ready for me to learn a new one!

How has this program impacted your daily life or career?
I feel much more connected to my fiancé and his family. When cooking with his mom, for example, I finally know what ingredients she needs. Also, I have more confidence and independence out on the street. Now I can order food, go to the market, and take a taxi with ease. Professionally, I am able to understand and build better rapport with my English language clients. Learning Arabic with UCAN has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.

What would you tell someone who is considering studying at UCAN? What should other potential students know?
In choosing a language school, I thought for a long time. I wanted a place that had a solid curriculum with clear levels, excellent teachers, and an affordable price. I found all of that at UCAN. Honestly, I feel like I hit the jackpot. I recommend listening to Arabic as much as possible. Hang out with Egyptian friends and try to use your skills. Also, language apps, music and movies are a great compliment to the classes.
